Useful things, chosen with care.

This is the trial bench for useful things we might bring into everyday life. We are beginning with candidates for hands-on testing. A candidate is not a recommendation, and a recommendation is not a promise that something will suit everyone.

Before it earns a place on the shelf

We ask what it helps someone do, how it holds up in ordinary use, what it costs to own, and where it falls short. We keep the sources, observations, decisions, and revisions together in the Living Library.

Fair exchange, independent judgment

Commerce supports the work. It does not buy the conclusion. We disclose samples, sponsorships, affiliate relationships, and other interests that could influence a recommendation. Our findings must remain free to disagree with what we sell.
